So with all this coronavirus going on everyone is working from home. This might be hard for some people since it’s all-new for you and you don’t know how to be productive since you are literally at home where you relax after coming home from the office and now you don’t have an office to go to. Wake Up At The Same Time Everyday

This can be tricky since you have the opportunity to sleep in, and of course, you should sleep some more if your body is telling you that you need some extra rest. You should just designate a time on when to go to bed and when to wake up. This will help you stay on track and it’s also good for your body to have this consistent sleep schedule and it will be easier for you to go back to work since you are already waking up early it won’t be hard for you to wake up early when you have to go back to the office. Just remember that consistency is key.

Get Ready

This is important to do if you want to stay productive and motivated to work. I know it must be hard to change out of your comfy pjays but it won’t feel like you are working if you don’t change. Just change out of your pjays to normalize that you are working from home. This will make you feel more put together and you’ll be more motivated to work. You will also be able to separate that you are working and getting stuff done from being comfortable and cozy and watching Netflix.

The 3 Most Important Tasks

This is something you should do every morning. Ask yourself that “if you get nothing done today what are the 3 things you HAVE to do today.” Write them down somewhere you’ll always look at to get reminded throughout the day that you have to do those 3 tasks no matter what. Lock Away Your Distraction

Put your phone away in the other room and get yourself away from it. You’ll just start checking it and go on Instagram if you have it beside you. You will easily get distracted if you have your phone or anything else that distracts you near you.

Make A Time Blocked Schedule

Have a schedule where you’ve set a time when you are going to work on each task or when you are going to take a lunch break etc. Google Calendar is the best! I use that all the time, I even have color-coordinated calendars for my work, my personal life, etc. Google calendar is so useful since it’s on your phone and on your computer. When you are making a time blocked schedule you should have a separate time to do house chores, don’t do it while you are working since it can be very distracting. You can try to make a time block in the morning where you are doing laundry and then after work, you can do dishes, etc.

Write Down Your Distractions

When you are working at home it’s easy to get distracted, you will be working and then suddenly be reminded that you have to change the sheets and so on, instead of sitting there and think about all the things you have to get done around the house just write them down and then it’s out of your mind and you can keep working instead of thinking about it. Once you are done with work you can look at your list and then do all those chores.

Create A Separate Work Space

It might be tempting to work from your bed, but you shouldn’t. Find a small room around your home or a corner where you can set up a table and a chair and make it all cozy. When you have a designated workspace it almost becomes your office in your home. So when you walk into that space you will know that you have to work. You can also move around from place to place if that works better for you, you can start with sitting in your kitchen and then, later on, move to your couch and work there for a bit, etc. It can help you stay fresh and motivated by moving around.

Drink Water

Remember to always drink water especially when all of this corona is going around. Did you know that the virus can be in your mouth for a bit and by drinking water you are flushing all the viruses in your stomach and your stomach acid will kill the virus, so if you don’t drink water the virus will go to your lungs instead and you’ll have trouble breathing + water also has a lot of benefits.

Have Something To Look Forward To

Give yourself a reward in the evening that you can look forward to. You can make yourself a nice cool glass of ice coffee in the afternoon every day, or a cup of tea, soda or anything that gets you excited and refreshed. By doing this you will get re-inspired and re-motivated after your busy morning.

Take Breaks

Working from home is not like working at your office, you don’t have friends popping by your desk when working home. When you are talking with colleagues about non-work-related stuff at your office it’s like taking a small break, and since you are working home you have to give yourself small breaks. You can watch a YouTube video, watch a show, do some stretches in your breaks. You should take breaks to help break up your day.

Make A Clean Environment

I get super distracted if there is a bunch of stuff lying around and I can’t focus on doing work. Try to keep your desk super clean since it will make you focus more. You can even have candles and a diffuser to make it cozier.

Make Healthy Meals

Since you are working from home you are saving time commuting and getting ready to go to work. This is one of the plus sides of working from home since you’ll have more time on making a fancier breakfast. You can make waffles, scrambled eggs with avocado and a lot more delicious breakfasts.

Set An End Time For Your Work Day

Since you are home you don’t have to stick to a 9-5 schedule. You can be more flexible with your working hours. It’s important to create a stop time and then have the rest of the day off. Make a ritual every day around the same time, for example, take a shower at 7 pm, this will make you separate your workday with your personal evening, and your mind will automatically know that you are done with work that day once you are in the shower.

I know it is a very scary time with the virus around but just be careful and follow the guidelines there is. Use this time wisely and talk with family and friends on facetime etc. Don’t be scared, we are all in this together! Take care of yourself until next time!
